Brisbane goes raw at Cafe Checocho!

Monday night my family, friends and I were proud to patron
Cafe Checocho in West End (Brisbane) for the debut of Raw Night Mondays by raw foods chef and dear friend Ames of
Raw and Peace. And she didn’t disappoint….the meals were delicious and the evening was festive!
We feasted on Kelp Noodles with Almond, Chilli, Lime & Ginger Sauce. Kelp noodles for the uninitiated are clear noodles with no flavour that are made entirely of sea kelp. They take on the flavour of the sauce you pair with them and are fat free and gluten free. AND you don’t cook them! (Note: any healthfood stores in Australia out there reading this, please stock Kelp Noodles so we don’t have to ship them in ourselves). Kelp noodles are great for kids because they are mild, nutritious and can be prepared simply for them. Adiva loves them with a simple lime and tamari broth. We also had the Roast Vegetable Stack (prepared in a dehydrator so the vegetables are soft and tender) which included capsicum, tomatoes, portobello mushrooms and cucumber with sprouted seed pesto and the Asian Greens with portobello mushrooms. Yum! And I must not forget the desert – Raw Chocolate Brownie with Vanilla Icecream and Sticky Date Chia Pudding with Cashew Cream and Agave.
So Brisbane friends, whether you are already converted, simply raw curious or just want a different and healthy night out, check this place out every Monday night from 5pm. Make sure you get there early to get a seat as we arrived at 530pm and the place was already packed by then. When we were leaving at 730pm the line up was out the door and people were ordering food and eating it out on the pavement.
And if you don’t have a raw food cafe in your town/city, consider having a raw food night one night a week in your own home!
Congradulations Ames…you’re a pioneer and a star!

Yippee – thank you thank you thank you – this means we will have somewhere to eat when we come to Brisbane !!
Ames the person behind the raw food at Cafe Checocho is expecting so I don’t think the raw food Mondays are happening!!!!
Hi Caroline, Yes, Ames is a very good friend of mine and now nearly 30 weeks pregnant. Very round indeed! So the only ways we can get her fabulous food from Raw and Peace at the moment is via Northy St Markets. I’ll make a note on the post which was written last year – thankyou for the reminder. Peace, Sarah x
